New bike shop, Downtown Bicycle Works, to relocate to Greensboro
There is a new bike shop on the block.
Downtown Bicycle Works, a family-run “old-school mom-and-pop bike shop” as Owner
Adam French proudly calls it, is relocating to downtown Greensboro.
The full-service repair and retail bike shop will open its doors at 607B South Elm St. after
months of renovations come March 2018. ( WE ARE NOW OPEN )
French currently runs online and in-store operations out of his current store, Downtown
BMX, in nearby Elkin. Since opening the location in 2016, French has focused on
growing his BMX bike and parts inventory, but always knew he wanted to expand into a
new, growing market.
Greensboro was the place to go.
Downtown Bicycle Works, which will encompass many parts of the former Downtown
BMX shop, will expand his inventory into the world of road, mountain and city bicycles.
The shop will be a premier Masi dealer—one of few on the east coast. It will also carry
brands such as Haro and Del Sol, and BMX brands such as Kink, Cult and Odyssey
For French, the new store isn’t just about selling more bikes. It’s about giving back to an
industry that has always supported him while growing up. An avid cyclist since his early
childhood, French said cycling is what got him through tough times. Over the years, it
turned into more than a hobby--it became his passion.
